HOSTING
Simplecast
Simplecast is my top recommendation for media hosting. At $15/month or $162/year for unlimited storage and bandwidth. You have to do crazy math trying to figure out what plan to get. Combine that with an easy to use interface and beautiful media player, it’s everything you’ll need.
Libsyn
Libsyn is one of the oldest players in the game. That experience gives them an edge when it comes to reliability. They have a great looking media player and their basic plan is only $5/month,
OTHER GEAR
Boom Arm/Pop Filter/Shock Mount
A pop-filter is a must have. It’s a super simple contraption that makes a world of difference. The pop-filter on this boom arm has a low profile so it doesn’t impede your vision. Combine that with a shock mount, boom arm, and a phone holder makes this an amazing tool.
Zoom H6 Portable Recorder
Whether you’re on-the-go or just looking for an easy way to record, the Zoom H6 should be your go-to. The capsule on top can be swapped for shotgun mics, omni-direction mics, or additional XLR inputs.
Audio-Technica ATR-3350IS
If you’re on-the-go or recording video, this mic is the way to go. Giving you great audio quality without ruining the video.
SOFTWARE
Audacity
You need to edit your podcast and there’s no better starting point than Audacity. Completely free, simple to use, and has a lot of resources to help you learn.
Reaper
Reaper is my software of choice. It’s extremely affordable with a one-time fee of $60. It’s non-destructive so you can always undo any edits you make. Once you get past the learning curve, it will greatly improve your workflow.
